Answer

No, it doesn't completely replace Modify() function. You can create objects such as rectangle, text objects in the DataWindow object using the CREATE statement in the Modify() function. This can't be done with the .Object notation.
It is also not possible to refer to the data by column name dynamically, which can be done using Modify().
