Question

Say, you have a DataWindow which returns 10,000 rows. After retrieving few rows, say, 100 rows, you have decided not to retrieve the rest of the rows. Explain different methods of canceling the result set.

Answer

There are two ways to accomplish this.
In the first method, you can call DBCancel() to cancel the query from a CommandButton Clicked event or in other event. However, once PowerBuilder starts retrieving the data, it will not give the control to the user till it completes retrieval. So, you need to put some code/comments in RetrieveRow event which will yield a little bit.
In the second method, you can just return 1 from the RetrieveRow event.
